According to reports from the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, an unnamed official has announced that Israeli forces plan to advance into Lebanon after concluding their operation in Rafah, located in the southernmost part of Gaza. Rafah is currently home to a large number of displaced individuals. The international community, including world leaders, has expressed deep concern over the potential escalation in Rafah, emphasizing the severe humanitarian crisis that could unfold for the 2.4 million inhabitants of Gaza. Many of these residents are currently seeking refuge in Rafah, near the Egyptian border, due to the ongoing conflict.
This announcement comes amid the backdrop of heightened tensions and regular confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel following Hezbollah’s decision to activate the southern front on October 8. This move was made in support of the Palestinians and the Hamas Movement after their significant assault on southern Israel, which ignited a fierce conflict.
The continued clashes have resulted in the death of at least 346 individuals in Lebanon, including over 60 civilians, with the majority being members of Hezbollah. The violence has also displaced tens of thousands of people in both southern Lebanon and northern Israel. In response to these developments, Israel has signaled its intention to carry out a military operation against Hezbollah with the aim of removing its presence from the border area.
