In a recent surge of violence, Hezbollah launched attacks on two northern Israeli communities, Shlomi and Goren, as a direct retaliation for what they deemed a “massacre” in Naqoura, a town along the southern border. The assault was specifically in response to Israeli military actions that resulted in civilian casualties and the deaths of members of Hezbollah and the Amal movement, including paramedics, in Naqoura and Tayr Harfa.
On Wednesday, casualties included four Hezbollah militants and two emergency medical personnel, along with three members of the Amal movement, one of whom was a rescuer. Adding to the toll, an Israeli airstrike targeted a paramedic center in the village of Hebariyeh, affiliated with the Islamic Group (Jamaa Islamiya), killing seven of its members. This incident marked Wednesday as the most lethal day in the ongoing conflict that has lasted over five months along the border.
Hezbollah also announced an attack on a recently established command center in Liman to support Gaza on Thursday.
This persistent conflict has been largely contained to the border areas, with international mediators working diligently to avert a full-scale war. The conflict has resulted in the deaths of nine civilians and 11 soldiers in Israel, and nearly 240 Hezbollah militants and about 40 civilians in Lebanon.
The series of rocket attacks by Hezbollah toward Israel began on October 8, following a surprise incursion into southern Israel by Hamas-led militants the day before, which ignited a severe conflict in Gaza.
