On Friday, Hezbollah launched attacks on military positions in northern Israel and the occupied Shebaa and Kfarshouba regions. In response, Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes on the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil, according to the National News Agency. Early in the morning, the jets struck a house and later targeted the al-Wadi region of the town, with no reported casualties.
Hezbollah’s strikes focused on the al-Marj and Bayyad Blida posts in northern Israel, as well as the Zebdine barracks in the occupied Shebaa Farms. This cross-border exchange of fire has been occurring almost daily since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, triggering the conflict in Gaza.
On Thursday, an Israeli strike hit the village of Kfarjoz near Nabatieh, roughly 10 kilometers from the Israeli border, killing three people, including a child. In response, Hezbollah announced via Telegram on Friday that they had fired Katyusha rockets at Israel’s Northern Command as retaliation for the Kfarjoz strike.
The ongoing cross-border violence since early October has claimed around 622 lives in Lebanon, most of them fighters, but also at least 142 civilians, according to AFP. On the Israeli side, including the annexed Golan Heights, at least 24 soldiers and 26 civilians have been reported dead.
