U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein is expected to visit both Tel Aviv and Lebanon soon, according to sources quoted by al-Jadeed television. His mission reportedly focuses on urging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to escalate the conflict with Lebanon, as the consequences would be significant for both nations.
Hochstein is also expected to push for de-escalation along the southern front and address Lebanon’s presidential situation, as mentioned by the TV network. Al-Jadeed noted that Hochstein might suggest separating the conflict in Gaza from discussions around Lebanon’s presidency.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Hochstein will deliver a U.S. message to Israeli political leaders, advising them to avoid any military ventures in the north due to the high costs involved. The channel also noted that Hochstein will make additional efforts to reach a northern settlement, though this could be complicated by the situation in Gaza, which is tied to the ceasefire talks.
