According to pro-Hezbollah al-Mayadeen TV, citing “credible European security sources,” Hezbollah’s retaliation for the assassination of its military chief, Fouad Shukur, resulted in the deaths of 22 Israeli personnel and injuries to 74 others from Israel’s Unit 8200 intelligence department.
On August 25, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah announced that the group had successfully attacked the Glilot intelligence base near Tel Aviv using suicide drones. However, Israel’s military denied any successful hits on the base.
In response to this, Israel launched extensive airstrikes into southern Lebanon, claiming to have destroyed hundreds of Hezbollah rocket launchers and preventing a large-scale attack. Hezbollah, however, maintained that it successfully executed its operation, delivering a substantial barrage of rockets and drones.
The Israeli military stated that around 100 fighter jets targeted over 270 sites, with 90 percent of the strikes aimed at short-range rockets intended for northern Israel. Hezbollah denied that thousands of rocket launchers were destroyed or that Israel had prevented a broader assault, insisting that its own operation was “completed and accomplished.”
Hezbollah reported that it launched a significant number of drones and fired over 320 Katyusha rockets aimed at Israeli positions across the border. Nasrallah revealed that their primary target was the Glilot military intelligence base, reportedly housing the headquarters of Mossad, while a secondary target was the Ein Shemer military airport, used by Israeli drones.
