On May 23, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson hosted a reception to celebrate the strong connections between the U.S. Embassy and the numerous Lebanese participants of U.S. Government-sponsored international exchange programs, according to the embassy.
Ambassador Johnson praised the “remarkable achievements” of the alumni from these exchange programs, highlighting the significance the United States places on the “bridges of friendship and understanding” that these individuals continue to foster between the U.S. and Lebanon.
The event included a musical performance by Nareg Vassilian, an alumnus of the American Music Abroad (AMA) program.
The U.S. exchange alumni in Lebanon come from various fields such as academia, politics, business, media, community leadership, and social and environmental activism. The network of U.S. exchange alumni in Lebanon consists of 16,000 members who have participated in exchange, educational, and cultural programs funded by the U.S. government.
“The U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section actively engages with this vibrant community through thematic discussions, roundtables, and celebratory events,” stated the embassy.
