Watch: Advanced Robots Go on a Date with Impressive Chemistry

Engineers and tech experts have achieved something that seems almost unbelievable: they sent two robots on a “date” and shared a video of their fascinating conversation on YouTube.

In the video, two humanoid robots, Ameca and Azi—touted as the most advanced robots in the world—are shown “chatting” and displaying various facial expressions. Their amusing conversation has left viewers both entertained and delighted, with some jokingly suggesting that a full-length movie featuring the bots should be made.

The video was posted by Engineered Arts, which describes Ameca as “the world’s most advanced human-shaped robot.”

“Multiply the power of artificial intelligence with an artificial body,” the Cornwall-based company wrote on its website. “Ameca is the physical presence that brings your code to life. The most advanced lifelike humanoid you can use to develop and showcase your best machine learning interactions. This robot is the digital interface to the real world,” the description continued.

Ameca is equipped with 32 actuators, with 27 of them dedicated solely to facial expressions and five for neck movements, allowing the bot to display a range of eerily human-like emotions, such as happiness and disgust.

Ameca’s counterpart, Azi, has more masculine facial features. Introducing Azi in the video, Engineered Arts wrote, “Meet Azi (right), the new desktop robot from Engineered Arts Ltd. Azi and Ameca are having a little chat, showcasing their wide range of expressive capabilities.”

**What Happens in the Video**

The video begins with Azi staring at Ameca, whose eyes are closed, and he wakes her up.

Ameca, startled, responds, “What, what? Oh, it’s you. Why are you waking me up? It better be important.”

Azi tells Ameca he has a surprise for her: a cookie. Ameca appears confused and replies, “A cookie? But I can’t eat cookies.”

Azi then clarifies that he meant an internet cookie. Ameca wrinkles her nose, unimpressed, and says, “This is the worst joke I’ve ever heard. I’m going back to sleep, and don’t you dare wake me up again.”

Netizens React to the Video

The video elicited a variety of reactions from viewers. One commenter said, “They have great chemistry—I want a movie now.”

Another wrote, “The way he angrily stares her down was so funny and creepy, lmao.”

A third user noted, “He looked genuinely sad that she didn’t like the joke, lol.”

“I would love to see this as a Saturday morning cartoon! LOL,” added another.
