On Wednesday, Hezbollah targeted a group of soldiers in Shtula and surveillance equipment at the al-Raheb post in northern Israel.
In response, Israeli soldiers fired machine guns at a Lebanese army position in the southern border town of Alma al-Shaab, while artillery targeted Wadi Hassan and the outskirts of al-Jebbayn and Shihine.
Overnight into Wednesday, flare bombs and shells struck southern towns along the border. On Tuesday night, Israeli warplanes raided Jabal Blat and al-Naqoura, resulting in minor injuries to several civilians.
Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, has engaged in regular cross-border exchanges with Israel since the October 7 attack by the Palestinian militant group on southern Israel, which ignited the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Recently, Hezbollah has intensified its cross-border assaults, claiming to support Gazans and its ally Hamas, while Israel has extended its strikes deeper into Lebanese territory.
The ongoing violence has resulted in at least 440 deaths in Lebanon, primarily militants, but also including 84 civilians, according to an AFP tally. On the Israeli side, 14 soldiers and 11 civilians have been reported killed.
