Israeli warplanes conducted air raids on the southern Lebanese town of Aitaroun on Thursday, heightening concerns that ongoing cross-border skirmishes between Israel and Hezbollah might escalate into a full-scale war. The exchanges of fire have been frequent since the October 7 attack by Palestinian militants on Israel, which ignited the conflict in Gaza. Recent days have seen an uptick in hostilities. Since October 7, 481 people, including 94 civilians, have died in Lebanon due to the clashes, while Israel has reported the deaths of 15 soldiers and 11 civilians.
