Latest developments in Israel-Hezbollah border clashes

On Wednesday, Israeli warplanes and drones conducted strikes on the southern Lebanese border towns of Mays al-Jabal and Aita al-Shaab, with additional artillery shelling targeting Markaba and the outskirts of Tayrharfa and Alma al-Shaab.

According to the National News Agency, “Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike near a school in Aita al-Shaab, shortly after a drone had targeted the same area in the town.”

In response, Hezbollah targeted a military post in northern Israel. The group announced the deaths of two of its members “on the road to Jerusalem” following an overnight strike on al-Odaisseh, which resulted in two fatalities, as reported by the NNA.

On Tuesday, Hezbollah launched seven attacks on Israeli positions.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 426 people in Lebanon, primarily militants, but also including 82 civilians, according to an AFP tally. On the Israeli side, 14 soldiers and 11 civilians have been reported killed.

This escalation has heightened fears of a full-scale conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, reminiscent of the 2006 war.
