Real Madrid has finalized the signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to reports from French media and renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. This announcement comes just a day after Real Madrid secured their 15th UEFA Champions League title.
The transfer of Mbappe has been one of the most talked-about stories in the world of football in recent years. After much speculation, Mbappe announced last month that he would be leaving PSG as a free agent.
“Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, HERE WE GO! Every document has been signed, sealed, and completed. Real Madrid is set to announce Mbappé as a new signing next week after winning the Champions League,” Fabrizio Romano reported. He also added that Mbappe made his decision in February and can now be considered a Real Madrid player.
Leaving PSG on a free transfer means the French club will miss out on a significant transfer fee, having previously rejected an offer exceeding $200 million from Real Madrid in 2021. Mbappe leaves PSG without having won the Champions League, joining the record holders of the title instead.
Real Madrid is expected to make the official announcement soon, potentially as early as Monday, June 3, to align with the wishes of France coach Didier Deschamps, who wants Mbappe’s future settled before the start of the European Championships. However, the formal presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu might take place in mid-July, considering France’s likely deep run in the tournament.
Despite reports confirming the deal, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remained tight-lipped about Mbappe’s future when asked on Saturday, June 1. Perez remarked, “Mbappé? Today is Mbappé? Today isn’t the day to talk about other players,” as the team celebrated their latest Champions League victory.
Mbappe will be joining a formidable Madrid attack, currently spearheaded by Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. With additional talents like Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, and Joselu already on the squad, and Endrick set to arrive from Palmeiras, Real Madrid seems poised for continued dominance in world football.
