Israel Announces Combat in Northern Regions While Intensifying Military Actions in Southern and Central Gaza

As the Israeli military continues its operations in central and southern Gaza, the conflict persists in the northern regions as well.

On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported combat in the Shejaiya area in northern Gaza. Here, ground troops encountered a terrorist cell operating close to the forces, including an individual armed with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). The IDF directed an aircraft to target and neutralize this cell.

In Beit Lahia, a location already heavily impacted by the conflict, the IDF dismantled two Hamas military compounds. These sites contained a variety of weapons, explosives, firearms, military gear, and communication devices, which were identified and targeted by the troops.

Additionally, the IDF reported significant actions in Gaza City, also in the north. Coordinating with aircraft, the troops engaged in combat, resulting in the elimination of dozens of terrorists. Over a three-hour span, four separate incidents of terrorist activities were identified, leading to airstrikes on over 15 armed individuals. Further engagements in the area led to more casualties among the terrorists.

Meanwhile, Hamas’ military wing, Al Qassam Brigades, asserts its ongoing resistance against Israeli forces in various parts of Gaza, including the Bureij camp in the central region.

The conflict, which escalated after the October 7 attacks by Hamas that left 1,200 Israelis dead and led to the capture of hostages, initially focused on northern Gaza before expanding to the south. Israel’s objective is to dismantle Hamas’ capabilities in response to these attacks.

The Israeli military anticipates that this war could continue for several more months, indicating a prolonged period of conflict ahead.
