Hezbollah Strikes Near Akka Following Member’s Death in Zahrani Attack

On Tuesday, Hezbollah launched a complex drone assault involving both decoy and explosive drones against a command center near Akka, which is under Israeli control. This operation was in retaliation for the death of a Hezbollah fighter in Adloun. The drones struck two Israeli bases at the Shraga barracks, located to the north of Akka.

Earlier that day, an Israeli drone had attacked a vehicle near Aadloun, a town on the southern coast of Lebanon, resulting in the death of a Hezbollah member identified as an engineer in their air defense forces.

Hezbollah confirmed the death of Hussein Azqoul, attributing it to Israeli aggression. The Israeli military acknowledged that Azqoul was a significant figure within their air defense unit. This strike occurred in the Abu al-Aswad area, situated between the coastal cities of Tyre and Sidon, roughly 40 kilometers from the Israeli border.

Subsequent Israeli actions included artillery shelling near the Lebanese villages of Tayr Harfa and Alma al-Shaab, and a series of nine airstrikes targeting various locations in Lebanon.

Hezbollah’s response has escalated recently, including launching multiple Katyusha rockets at an Israeli military headquarters in the north. This was in retaliation for Israeli strikes on Lebanese villages, which also resulted in the death of another Hezbollah member, Mohammad Atiyeh, in Srifa.

Moreover, on Sunday, Hezbollah claimed to have shot down an Israeli Hermes 450 drone, marking the fourth drone downed since the conflict escalated.

Further tensions flared as Hezbollah targeted Israeli soldiers at the al-Assi post, while Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes on several southern Lebanese towns.

Since the conflict was reignited by Hamas’s significant attack on October 7, hostilities have been nearly continuous, leading to significant casualties on both sides of the border. According to reports, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of 378 people in Lebanon, predominantly Hezbollah fighters, and 70 civilians. Israel has reported the deaths of 11 soldiers and eight civilians due to these ongoing exchanges.
