Safa Informs UAE: Hezbollah Open to Demilitarized Zone in South

During a recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, Wafiq Safa, who leads Hezbollahโ€™s Coordination and Liaison Committee, conveyed to Emirati officials that Hezbollah is prepared to cease hostilities on the southern front of Lebanon, according to a report in the media.

The organization is also open to the idea of establishing a โ€œdemilitarized zoneโ€ along the Blue Line, which would be manned exclusively by the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL peacekeepers, as reported by sources familiar with Hezbollahโ€™s stance in an article by Asharq al-Awsat, a Saudi Arabian newspaper.

The sources added that Safa discussed with the Emiratis the necessity of reaching an agreement on land border demarcation post-ceasefire, similar to the prior agreement on maritime boundaries.
