Geagea Holds Hezbollah Accountable for War’s Destruction and Deaths

Samir Geagea, the head of the Lebanese Forces, has accused Hezbollah of causing significant harm through its border skirmishes with Israel, highlighting the severe consequences of these actions.

During a Ramadan iftar dinner in Maarab, Geagea detailed the heavy toll of the conflict, noting that it has led to between 350 and 400 deaths, the decimation of numerous villages, and both direct and indirect economic damages amounting to millions of dollars, the latter of which is difficult to quantify precisely.

Geagea pointedly held Hezbollah, and by extension possibly Iran, accountable for dragging Lebanon into this conflict, insisting they must shoulder the fallout.

He further argued for the Lebanese government’s immediate action to adhere to Resolution 1701, advocating for the deployment of the Lebanese Army along the southern border of Lebanon. This move, he believes, is crucial for Lebanon’s defense and would garner widespread support from both Arab countries and the international community, given the consensus behind it.
