Cross-Border Fire Wounds 1 Israeli, 3 Lebanese

In recent skirmishes along the Lebanon-Israel border, an Israeli soldier and three Lebanese civilians sustained injuries due to the conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli military.

The incident occurred when an overnight operation targeted the southern Lebanese town of Kfarhamam in the Arqoob area, injuring three locals. Concurrently, the Israeli military reported that one of its soldiers was wounded by a Hezbollah-initiated assault on Metula.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks targeting Israeli forces and vehicles at the Malkia outpost and a military vehicle in Metula.

Subsequent retaliatory strikes by Israeli aircraft targeted areas in Kfarkela, the outskirts of Shebaa, and residential areas in Zalloutieh and Yarin. In response, Hezbollah engaged Israeli surveillance systems at the Zar’it military site.

On the preceding Thursday, Hezbollah executed five assaults on military positions in northern Israel and territories near Kfarhamam, including the contested Kfarshouba Hills and Shebaa Farms.

This exchange of hostilities is part of an escalating conflict that began with a significant offensive by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, leading to a broader conflict in Gaza.

The ongoing confrontations have resulted in at least 349 fatalities in Lebanon, predominantly among Hezbollah combatants, with a minimum of 68 civilian casualties, as reported by an AFP count.

This violence has led to the displacement of thousands from their homes in both southern Lebanon and northern Israel. In Israel, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of 10 soldiers and eight civilians.
