Gallant Commits to Pushing Hezbollah Past Litani River

On Wednesday evening, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant pledged to remove Hezbollah from the vicinity of Israel’s border, pushing them beyond the Litani River.

Following a tense gathering with leaders of communities located along the Lebanon border, Gallant reassured them that the nearly 80,000 inhabitants living within a 9-kilometer radius of the border would only return to their homes once the area’s security is reestablished.

Gallant underscored his preference for a diplomatic solution through an international agreement, aiming to enforce Hezbollah’s retreat past the Litani River, in line with U.N. Resolution 1701 which concluded the 2006 conflict with Hezbollah.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that if diplomatic efforts do not succeed, Israel is prepared to employ all necessary methods, including military action, to achieve this objective.
