Marada Movement leader Suleiman Franjieh met with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkirki on Thursday to discuss various issues. Franjieh emphasized his commitment to open dialogue and the protection of Christian communities, criticizing the approach of rival Christian factions that he perceives as overly focused on controlling security.
Franjieh argued that the true safety of Christians does not come from coercion or isolation but through more inclusive means. He also spoke about his candidacy for the presidency, stating it reinforces rather than undermines democracy.
He pledged to participate in any official dialogues but refused to engage in bilateral talks that might marginalize any parties. Franjieh expressed that his actions are guided by his conscience and his identity as an Arab and a Christian, noting that some members of the National Moderation bloc would support his presidential bid.
