Foreign Presidential Efforts Intensify Pre-Ramadan: Report

Diplomatic sources have indicated that international efforts to resolve Lebanon’s prolonged presidential impasse are expected to increase before Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. These sources shared with al-Jadeed TV that a plan to address the deadlock is nearly finalized.

Visitors to Ain el-Tineh, the residence of Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, reported that Berri is in favor of both local and international initiatives aimed at breaking the stalemate. Berri has expressed his willingness to facilitate any type of parliamentary session or discussion to move forward.

Al-Jadeed TV also reported on a local initiative designed to work alongside these international efforts, aiming to find a solution that allows all involved parties to gracefully withdraw from their current standpoints while maintaining the nation’s sovereignty. The initiative involves a series of meetings with various parliamentary factions, who will be asked to appoint representatives for a consultative gathering in the parliament. This meeting, unique in its structure, will not be led by any single individual.
