Envoys Kick Off Political Tour, Meeting Berri Today in Quintet Gathering

On Tuesday, the collective efforts of a five-nation group dedicated to addressing issues in Lebanon are set to recommence. The initial meeting is scheduled to take place at Ain el-Tineh, where ambassadors from the five nations will convene with Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri.

According to a report by the PSP’s al-Anbaa news portal, this visit will be followed by meetings with various political entities.

Sources familiar with the matter informed al-Anbaa that this new venture by the ambassadors, occurring simultaneously with the Qatari envoy’s discrete discussions in Beirut, is an investigative approach aimed at finding solutions to the ongoing presidential deadlock.

The sources explained that the focus of these meetings would be more on dialogue and consultation to facilitate a breakthrough in the presidential impasse, rather than launching a new initiative.

During this phase, the emphasis will be on gathering opinions and harmonizing perspectives, particularly in light of the recent gathering at the residence of the Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari in Yarze, as stated by the sources. No specific presidential candidates are expected to be proposed at this stage.

Furthermore, the sources highlighted a significant proposal concerning the mechanism of the presidential election. This proposal seeks to capitalize on the conducive environment created during the session that resulted in the extension of the army chief’s term.
