An Egyptian official suggested that the deadly strike in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights might expedite negotiations for a cease-fire in Gaza, which could, in turn, impact the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict.
He indicated that mediators would leverage such an attack to advocate for a Gaza cease-fire to prevent a broader regional war.
“Both fronts are interconnected,” he noted. “Achieving a cease-fire in Gaza will likely lead to a cease-fire with Hezbollah.”
The official requested anonymity as he was not authorized to discuss the sensitive negotiations with the media.
Officials from the United States, Egypt, and Qatar are scheduled to meet with Israeli representatives in Rome on Sunday to advance the latest efforts for a Gaza cease-fire deal.
