On Friday, May 3, China successfully launched a significant lunar mission aimed at gathering rocks and soil from the moon’s far side. The unmanned Chang’e-6 probe was launched aboard a rocket from the Wenchang Space Launch Center on Hainan Island at approximately 5:27 pm local time.
The Chang’e-6 is on a mission to land in the South Pole-Aitken Basin, located on the moon’s far side. It is programmed to collect two kilograms of lunar soil and rock samples and return them to Earth. This mission will allow scientists to conduct a detailed analysis of the materials collected from this less-explored lunar region.
