Manchester United are expected to sell Jadon Sancho after this season, despite his strong performance on loan at Borussia Dortmund. Sancho, who has helped Dortmund reach the Champions League semifinals, remains out of favor at United due to a strained relationship with manager Erik ten Hag. This friction led to his temporary move to Dortmund in January.
Ten Hag, while acknowledging Sancho’s skill, hinted at an uncertain future for him at United. “He played very well on Wednesday and he’s a very good player,” Ten Hag said at a news conference. “He showed why Manchester United bought him and that he represents high value for the club, which is good. I’m happy for Jadon, for the performance yesterday, and we’ll see what is going to happen in the future.”
Despite this praise, if Ten Hag remains in charge, Sancho might seek a permanent exit when his loan ends in June, to avoid returning to a potentially tense situation. The United board is also inclined to facilitate his departure to maintain a harmonious atmosphere within the team.
Sancho’s recent performance has been notable; he became the first player to complete 10 dribbles in a Champions League match this season during Dortmund’s first-leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain. He also assisted Niclas Fullkrug’s goal, setting the stage for a balanced return match in Paris the following Tuesday.
