Wozniacki Receives One of the Initial Wild Cards for the 2024 Australian Open

Caroline Wozniacki, a former world number one, has been selected to receive one of the initial wild cards for the 2024 Australian Open. She intends to bring her two young children to the event, where she previously celebrated her most significant Grand Slam victory.

The 2018 Australian Open women’s winner, Wozniacki, along with six Australian athletes, received the first set of wild cards for the tournament. The 33-year-old made a comeback to professional tennis in August, following over three years away from the tour. She participated in tournaments in Montreal and Cincinnati and advanced to the fourth round of the U.S. Open, where she was defeated by the eventual winner, Coco Gauff.

Reflecting on her fond memories of Melbourne and the Australian Open, Wozniacki, currently ranked No. 242, expressed her excitement about the event, noting her 2018 victory as a career milestone.

Wozniacki, who claimed her sole Grand Slam singles title in Australia before retiring in early 2020 to focus on her family, has since worked as a TV analyst. She and former NBA player David Lee now have two children, Olivia and James, whom Wozniacki plans to bring to Melbourne Park for the tournament.

She eagerly anticipates sharing the experience with her family and children. Tournament director Craig Tiley announced in October that three former Australian Open champions – Naomi Osaka, Wozniacki, and Angelique Kerber – are slated to return to the first major event of the year following their maternity breaks.
