Washington reached out to caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker Nabih Berri following Israel’s assassination of senior Hezbollah military commander Taleb Abdallah, according to a Western diplomatic source.
The U.S. “emphasized the need for restraint, advising that Hezbollah should avoid any miscalculation in its response to the assassination,” the source told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.
This development follows Hezbollah’s extensive rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel for two consecutive days, marking the most intense exchange since the skirmishes began on October 8.
