US intel suggests imminent war between Israel and Hezbollah, report claims

A significant confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah appears imminent if a ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas is not reached, according to U.S. intelligence. Senior U.S. officials, who spoke to Politico, indicated that both Israel and Hezbollah are preparing for potential conflict by drafting battle plans and seeking additional weapons. Despite both sides publicly stating a desire to avoid war, U.S. officials increasingly believe intense fighting may be unavoidable. Some European countries predict that such a conflict could erupt within days. The National Security Council emphasized efforts for a diplomatic resolution to allow citizens of Israel and Lebanon to safely return home. A ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza is seen as a crucial step towards achieving lasting security and calm along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.
