The San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing, bringing daily surprises and major announcements. On Saturday, July 27, during a DC panel, director Matt Reeves shared an exciting update about “The Batman: Part II.”
What Did Matt Reeves Reveal About The Batman: Part II?
While the panel primarily focused on Colin Farrell’s spinoff series “The Penguin,” set to release later this year, Reeves also provided an update on “The Batman: Part II.” He announced that filming for the sequel to Robert Pattinson’s 2022 hit movie will begin next year, with Farrell’s Penguin character returning.
Reeves mentioned that Farrell’s character needs to be in a “certain place” for the sequel, confirming fan theories about The Penguin’s connection to “The Batman: Part II.”
Cast and Release Date
Although many plot details remain under wraps, the cast has been confirmed. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as the caped crusader, joined by Andy Serkis as Alfred and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. “The Batman: Part II” is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
The Penguin Trailer
“The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell, is set in the universe of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” and follows the rise of villain Oz Cobb in Gotham City. The trailer shows Oz engaging in violent acts as he navigates Gotham’s streets.
The limited series features Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Rhenzy Feliz as Penguin’s young driver Victor Aguilar, Michael Kelly as Falcone crime family boss Johnny Vitti, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Nadia Maroni, and Deirdre O’Connell as Francis Cobb, among others.
The eight-episode series will premiere on HBO on September 19.
