UN Calls for Independent Investigation Into Deadly Israeli Strike in Zgharta

The United Nations on Tuesday urged for a “swift, independent, and comprehensive investigation” into an Israeli airstrike that reportedly killed 22 people in the northern Lebanese village of Aito.

According to U.N. rights office spokesperson Jeremy Laurence, the casualties included 12 women and two children, raising “serious concerns regarding compliance with the laws of war, particularly the principles of distinction, proportion, and proportionality.”
