Euro 2024: Ukraine exits after goalless draw with Belgium

Belgium secured their spot in the last 16 of Euro 2024 with a 0-0 draw against Ukraine, who were eliminated despite all four teams in Group E finishing with four points. Romania topped the group due to scoring more goals, and Slovakia advanced as one of the best third-placed teams. Belgium will face France next, entering a tough draw that includes Germany, Spain, and Portugal. Ukrainian fans honored fallen soldiers with a poignant banner, while the match saw Kevin De Bruyne dealing with disruptive lasers as both teams fought for advancement.

Ukraine’s elimination marked the first time a team with four points did not progress since the tournament expanded to 24 teams. Despite their efforts, Ukraine couldn’t secure the goal they needed, while Belgium faced criticism from their fans. Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku missed key opportunities, and Ukraine’s Roman Yaremchuk came close to scoring. In the end, both sides ended with mixed emotions as Belgium moved on and Ukraine’s valiant run concluded.
