UAE Ships 40 Tons of Medical Aid to Lebanon

On Saturday, an aircraft from the United Arab Emirates carrying 40 tons of critical medical supplies landed in Lebanon, part of the UAEโ€™s campaign, โ€œUAE stands with Lebanon,โ€ as confirmed by a Lebanese Ministry of Health official to CNN.

The UAEโ€™s foreign ministry declared the start of its relief efforts to aid Lebanon on the same day. The ministry highlighted that this aid delivery underlines the UAEโ€™s dedication to humanitarian efforts and signifies the strong brotherly ties between the two nations, especially during challenging times.

According to the UAEโ€™s foreign ministry, this gesture is part of a broader commitment wherein the UAE will provide $100 million in aid to Lebanon. The ministry also expressed its concerns about the growing conflict in Lebanon and its potentially destabilizing effects on regional stability.

This development follows the announcement by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday of nearly $157 million in U.S. humanitarian assistance intended to support those affected by the ongoing conflict in Lebanon and surrounding areas.

Recent weeks have seen the displacement of up to one million individuals within Lebanon, triggered by intensified military actions by Israel against Hezbollah. This figure includes over 200,000 people, predominantly Lebanese and Syrians, who have sought refuge in Syria, as reported by the United Nations.
