Berri’s Bloc: Tyre Cabinet Meeting Shows Full Commitment to 1701

The Development and Liberation parliamentary bloc, led by Speaker Nabih Berri, praised caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s proposal to hold a Cabinet meeting in the southern city of Tyre. The bloc issued a statement on Thursday, describing the move as a strong indication of Lebanon’s commitment to fully implement U.N. resolution 1701 and its provisions.

The bloc emphasized that the Cabinet meeting, scheduled for Saturday at the Benoit Barakat military barracks, demonstrates support for the Lebanese Army and its role in securing the South Litani Area up to the border with Israel, with assistance from the UNIFIL force.

The bloc expressed hope that the session would result in actionable decisions that would address the needs of the Lebanese Army, as well as approve a reconstruction plan to rebuild areas damaged by Israeli aggression. This plan, the bloc noted, should also provide compensation for affected industrial, commercial, and agricultural sectors.
