Israeli forces conducted a raid in the Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the death of two Palestinians, as reported by the Palestinian health ministry. The individuals, aged 17 and 31, were fatally shot in the camp, located to the south of Hebron.
As of the moment, the army has not provided any immediate comments on the incident. A local resident of the camp, speaking anonymously due to security concerns, detailed that Israeli troops entered the camp from both the southern and northern entrances. He noted that the two men were killed just outside their homes and mentioned subsequent clashes where five other individuals were injured. One of these injured persons later succumbed to their wounds.
This event is part of the escalating violence in the West Bank since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza, which began following an attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7. The attack led to approximately 1,140 deaths in Israel, predominantly civilians, based on the latest official Israeli figures compiled by AFP.
In response, Israel launched a counter-offensive in Gaza, where over 20,600 people, mainly women and children, have been killed, as per the health ministry of the territory. Since the start of the Gaza war, more than 300 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers, according to the Palestinian health ministry in Ramallah.
