Strikes Hit South Beirut Following Israel’s Deadliest Day in South Lebanon

Heavy airstrikes targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs overnight into Thursday. On Thursday morning, the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings for several areas, including Choueifat’s al-Amrousiyeh, Ghobeiri, Haret Hreik, and Borj al-Brajneh, after conducting three rounds of airstrikes.

In the past week, daytime raids on the Dahieh area have become more common, though Israel’s airstrikes across Lebanon have primarily taken place at night since its escalation of operations in September.

 

Six Israeli Soldiers Killed in Southern Lebanon

On Wednesday, Israel faced one of the most deadly days for its troops since ground operations began, with six soldiers killed in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army reported that these soldiers “fell during combat in southern Lebanon.” With these fatalities, the total number of Israeli troops killed in clashes with Hezbollah since September 30 now stands at 47.

 

Hezbollah Strikes in Southern Lebanon

Hezbollah announced that on Wednesday, it launched missiles targeting Israeli soldiers near Bint Jbeil, a strategic border town and the site of intense fighting during the 2006 conflict. The group reported using “Nasr 1-type missiles” to hit Israeli forces on the town’s outskirts.

 

Hezbollah Attacks on Northern Israel and Tel Aviv

On Wednesday night, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching multiple missiles at Israeli forces in northern Israel. In a statement, Hezbollah said it targeted “a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in the Sa’sa settlement” with a barrage of missiles.

The group also launched a drone attack against Israel’s military headquarters and defense ministry in Tel Aviv. Additionally, it fired missiles at a military intelligence base near the city and directed rocket fire at the Glilot military base in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, Israel’s primary commercial center.
