Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry has earned his 10th NBA All-Star selection, while Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis received his ninth, as announced on Thursday. The reserve players for the All-Star game were chosen by coaches, with Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns both making it from the Western Conference.
The Western team also includes Kawhi Leonard and Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers, and Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns. LeBron James of the Lakers, a 20-time All-Star, will serve as the captain of the West team. In the Eastern Conference, three players will be making their All-Star debut: Tyrese Maxey from Philadelphia, Paolo Banchero from Orlando, and Jalen Brunson from the New York Knicks.
Other Eastern reserves are Julius Randle from the Knicks, Jaylen Brown from Boston, Donovan Mitchell from Cleveland, and Bam Adebayo from Miami. The All-Star starters, determined by fan, media, and player votes, were previously announced.
LeBron James, breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record, will lead the Western starters, which include Kevin Durant from Phoenix, two-time MVP Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets, Luka Doncic from Dallas, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from Oklahoma City.
The Eastern team, captained by Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, includes frontcourt starters Joel Embiid from Philadelphia and Jayson Tatum from Boston, and guards Tyrese Haliburton from Indiana and Damian Lillard from Milwaukee.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will appoint replacements for any players unable to participate in the All-Star Game, choosing from the same conference. With the Knicks reporting Julius Randle’s shoulder injury and Joel Embiid’s meniscus issue in his left knee, Commissioner Silver may need to name several replacements.
