Speculations swirl as Kate Middleton misses St. Patrick’s Day parade

The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, was notably absent from the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade hosted by the Irish Guards, a deviation from her customary attendance due to her recovery from abdominal surgery. As the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, Kate usually has a prominent role in this event.

The parade proceeded without her presence, with plans for the guards to honor her with three cheers in her absence. The task of distributing shamrock sprigs to the guards, typically performed by Kate, was undertaken by Lady Ghika, the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel’s wife, while Major General Sir Christopher Ghika received the salute.

Kate, who has been away from the public eye since Christmas, is anticipated to resume her official engagements after Easter, in line with medical advice. Her return is expected around the time of the royal family’s Easter church visit on March 31.

Kate and Prince William acknowledged St. Patrick’s Day with an Instagram post expressing support for the Irish Guards and extending festive greetings. They shared a glimpse of the guards’ parade rehearsal, wishing everyone a joyful celebration.

The Irish Guards are slated to be featured prominently in June during the Trooping the Colour ceremony in honor of King Charles’ birthday.
