Smile 3 in the Works? Director Parker Finn Teases “Sky’s the Limit”

The much-anticipated *Smile 2*, directed by Parker Finn, has finally hit theaters, and fans are already curious about whether a third installment of the popular horror franchise is in the works. Addressing this frequently asked question, Finn hinted at the possibility of a third film in a conversation with *The Hollywood Reporter*, saying that “the sky’s the limit.”

“There are so many exciting directions Smile could take,” Finn remarked. “We’ll have to wait and see how audiences respond to *Smile 2*, but what makes the *Smile* franchise so special is the potential to explore diverse stories set in different worlds, where the Smile entity can appear and cause havoc.”

In a separate interview with *GamesRadar+*, Finn expressed optimism, stating that if *Smile 2* performs well at the box office and connects with audiences, “the sky’s the limit” for future sequels.

*Smile 2*, which stars Naomi Scott as a pop star haunted by eerie grinning demons, was released globally on October 18, nearly two years after the first film became a blockbuster hit.

In an earlier discussion with *Den of Geek* magazine, Finn explained the approach for the sequel, emphasizing that they wanted to create a sequel that felt “worthwhile, unique, and stood on its own.” He highlighted the difference between the two films, noting that in the first movie, the audience uncovers the mystery alongside the character, while in *Smile 2*, viewers are already equipped with more knowledge than the protagonist. Finn said he wanted to use that dynamic to create an even more engaging experience, playing with audience expectations.

Additionally, Finn is working on writing and directing a remake of the 1981 horror film *Possession*, with actor Robert Pattinson serving as a producer.
