Schumer urges bipartisan aid package for national security, including Israel funding

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer emphasized on Saturday that in response to the Iranian attack, the best support for Israel would be for the House to expedite the approval of the bipartisan national security aid package already passed by the Senate, which includes funding for Israel.

Schumer pointed out that, particularly after recent events, it is crucial for the House to act swiftly on this matter. The House, dominated by Republicans, has been hesitant to vote on the Senate-approved bill. Many conservatives within the House have expressed reluctance to approve additional aid for Ukraine and are pushing for tougher border policies to be incorporated into the aid package.

This disagreement places Schumer and Senator Johnson on opposite sides regarding the funding for Israel. Johnson mentioned on Sunday that legislators aim to secure more aid for Israel in the coming week, although the specifics of the package have not yet been determined.
