Ukraine reported that a Russian missile strike on a medical facility in the eastern Kharkiv region resulted in four injuries. This area has been experiencing ongoing bombardment recently.
Additionally, Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian forces deployed four drones against Ukraine overnight, with two being intercepted and downed by air defense systems over Kharkiv.
According to Ukraine’s interior ministry, the missile attack, which occurred late on Wednesday, was aimed at a village near the frontline town of Kupiansk, a key target for Russian forces. The attack caused significant damage to the exterior, windows, and roof of the two-story medical building. Following the attack, four individuals were injured and 38 people were evacuated from the area.
On the Russian side, the defense ministry claimed that their air defenses successfully shot down 11 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory during the night. The ministry accused the Kyiv regime of attempting a terrorist attack using drones against Russian sites. According to their statement, drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Belgorod (four drones) and Kursk (one drone) regions, and later, four additional drones were downed over Belgorod and two over Voronezh.
Ukraine has faced continuous aerial attacks by Russian forces for almost two years, leading to a significant number of casualties. Ukraine has sought support from Western allies to strengthen its defense capabilities.
In response, Ukraine has increased its drone attacks on Russian territory, focusing on border areas and extending to major cities like Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The most severe of these attacks happened in Belgorod on December 30, resulting in 25 deaths, around 100 injuries, and the evacuation of several hundred people.
