Roma vs Dyn. Kyiv Prediction: 24/10/2024

Roma’s season has not started as they had hoped, and the absence of De Rossi is already being felt. Currently sitting in 9th place in Serie A, Roma faces a tough challenge with a match against Inter looming next weekend. In the Europa League, the team has struggled, beginning with a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Athletic Bilbao, followed by a 1-0 defeat on Elfsborg’s ground.

Just before the international break, Roma also drew 1-1 with Monza in Serie A, leaving them with only two victories in nine matches across all competitions this season.

Dynamo Kyiv, meanwhile, has yet to secure any points in the Europa League, suffering defeats to Lazio (3-0) and Hoffenheim (2-0) without managing to score. However, the mood is more positive in the Ukrainian Premier League, where Dynamo sits at the top of the standings. They remain undefeated in the domestic league, with seven wins from their first eight matches, and will be looking to extend their form against Obolon next weekend.

Roma has a few key injury concerns. Enzo Le Fée, who joined from Stade Rennais this summer, is struggling to adapt to Italian football and remains sidelined, as does Saelemaekers, who has made just two Serie A appearances. Stephan El-Shaarawy, who provided an assist this season, may also miss the match after picking up an injury against Monza.

However, Hummels, who was unwell against Monza, is expected to return. Paulo Dybala, with just one goal in five Serie A appearances, is yet to find his rhythm this season after a summer transfer saga linked him with Saudi Arabia, although he ultimately stayed in Rome to the delight of fans.

For Dynamo Kyiv, Bragaru, who was suspended for the second group stage match following a red card against Lazio, is available again. However, the team will be missing young prospect Ponomarenko (18) and Ceballos, who scored once in three league appearances this season.

Vitaliy Buyalskyy, who has netted three goals in the Ukrainian Premier League, is expected to feature, along with Pikhalyonok, Rubchynskyi, and veteran international Yarmolenko, all of whom have scored twice in the league.

 

Prediction

When Dynamo Kyiv plays away in the Europa League, matches often feature few goals, with 17 of their last 19 away games producing under 2.5 goals, including their last nine consecutive matches. Similarly, 14 of Roma’s last 19 home games in the competition have seen two goals or fewer, including both a win and a draw against Dynamo Kyiv.
