On Thursday, the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on the peripheries of several towns near the border, including Yaroun, Aita al-Shaab, Aitaroun, Maroun al-Rass, and Kfarkila. One of these strikes tragically resulted in the death of an elderly woman in Maroun al-Rass.
Late on Wednesday evening, Israeli aircraft extended their strikes deep into Lebanese territory, targeting a wooded area near Bouslaya, located over 20 kilometers from the border, as reported by Lebanese state media.
The conflict between Hezbollah and Israeli forces has been intensifying almost daily since the outbreak of the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Recently, high-ranking officials from the United States and France have visited the region, attempting to prevent further escalation along the Lebanese front.
Hezbollah claimed to have launched surface-to-air missiles at Israeli military helicopters on Wednesday. In response, the Israeli army stated it had targeted a Hezbollah “military compound, launch sites, a command center, and an arms depot.”
Also on Wednesday, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that an Israeli sniper had fatally shot a man in his vehicle near Kfarkila, a town on the Lebanese border. Hezbollah, which usually acknowledges the deaths of its members, did not recognize the deceased man as part of its group. However, the group did later announce that an Israeli attack on a home in Markaba that same evening had killed one of its fighters.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 110 Hezbollah fighters and at least 16 civilians losing their lives on the Lebanese side. Meanwhile, the Israeli side has suffered the loss of at least nine soldiers and five civilians.
