Red Bull clarifies amid Horner sacking rumors

In response to speculation about Christian Hornerโ€™s potential dismissal from Red Bull, the company has publicly declared its unwavering support for him. Despite weekend rumors suggesting that Chalerm Yoodivhya, the majority owner, was considering Hornerโ€™s removal prior to the Australian Grand Prix, itโ€™s confirmed that Horner will indeed be present at Albert Park for the upcoming race.

A Red Bull spokesperson reaffirmed the companyโ€™s support, as quoted by Planet F1, and labeled the swirling rumors of Hornerโ€™s ousting as baseless, dismissing them as mere gossip and unfounded speculation.

Amidst these assurances for Horner, tensions seem to exist within the team. Helmut Marko, a key figure in Red Bullโ€™s motorsport division, expressed concerns about potential suspension due to disagreements with Hornerโ€™s leadership.

Max Verstappen, in light of the uncertainty regarding Markoโ€™s position, stressed the importance of Markoโ€™s presence for his own standing within the team, indicating that Markoโ€™s departure would negatively impact him.

In addition, Horner has openly stated that Verstappen is free to exit the team if he wishes, emphasizing the principle that no one, regardless of their role, should be compelled to stay against their will. This stance comes amidst a challenging period for the team, triggered by allegations against Horner of misconduct towards a female staff member. Despite Red Bullโ€™s internal investigation clearing Horner of these accusations, the controversy continues to loom over the team.
