On Thursday, Hezbollah targeted Israeli soldiers stationed at the Shumira and Yeftah barracks, while in response, the Israeli army carried out bombings in several locations including Jabal al-Bat, Mays al-Jabal, al-Jebbayn, al-Khiam, Blida, and near al-Taybeh, using artillery shells and missiles from warplanes.
Hezbollah confirmed the loss of another fighter, bringing their total number of militants killed since the onset of the clashes with the Israeli military on October 8 along the Lebanon-Israel border to 100. These clashes began when Hezbollah supported Hamas following their attack on southern Israel.
The conflict has escalated recently, primarily impacting a few border towns and resulting in the displacement of thousands of residents from both Lebanon and Israel. Efforts by the Lebanese government, United Nations peacekeepers, and international bodies are underway to prevent the conflict in Gaza from spreading to Lebanon.
The 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, which lasted a month, concluded without a definitive victor. Israel views Hezbollah as a significant threat, citing the group’s arsenal of approximately 150,000 rockets and missiles directed at Israel, along with their possession of drones and surface-to-air and surface-to-sea missiles.
Since October 7, more than 120 people have died on the Lebanese side of the border, predominantly Hezbollah fighters and over a dozen civilians. Israel has reported the deaths of six of its soldiers and four civilians. Hezbollah routinely claims its attacks are direct hits on Israeli soldiers, often asserting that they cause casualties.
