Recent Updates on the Ongoing Border Clashes Between Israel and Hezbollah

Hezbollah launched a guided missile at the Israeli settlement of Metulla on Tuesday, while Israeli forces responded with shelling on the outskirts of Mays al-Jabal, Blida, and Houla. Additionally, Israeli drones conducted extensive flights over Baalbek and its neighboring villages.

This escalation followed Hezbollah’s rocket attack on the Israeli border town of Kiryat Shmona on Monday evening. This attack was in retaliation for an Israeli strike near a funeral procession in Aita al-Shaab for a Hezbollah fighter.

According to an AFP tally, over 130 people have been killed in Lebanon due to Israeli strikes, predominantly Hezbollah fighters but also including a Lebanese soldier and 17 civilians, among them three journalists. On the Israeli side, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of four civilians and seven soldiers.

Hezbollah claims its actions are in support of Hamas.

In an effort to ease tensions at the border, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna met with high-ranking officials in Beirut on Monday. This meeting followed her visits to Israel and the occupied West Bank the day before.
