Qatari FM sees ‘some progress’ in Gaza truce negotiations

Qatar’s foreign minister has stated that while there has been some progress in the negotiations for a Gaza cease-fire deal, significant differences remain between Israel and Hamas.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, speaking from Spain, noted that Qatar, along with the U.S. and Egypt, is mediating the talks. He mentioned that there have been “successive meetings” with Hamas leaders to try to narrow the gaps.

He emphasized that a solution cannot be one-sided. “There cannot be one party to the conflict adopting the vision of the other party,” he said, stressing that the resolution must be based on compromises from both sides.
