Ohio shooting leaves 10 injured; suspect evades police in high-speed chase

Early on Sunday, June 23, a shooting incident occurred in Columbus, Ohio, leaving ten people injured, one of them critically, according to police reports.

The Columbus Police Department responded to the scene in the Short North neighborhood at 2:28 AM. They initially found six victims at the location, while four others were later reported to have been taken to hospitals for treatment. The victims, aged between 16 and 27, are being treated in three different hospitals and are all expected to survive.

According to media reports, all the victims were males. Columbus Police indicated that nine of the injured were in stable condition by Sunday morning.

Sgt. Joe Albert of the Columbus Police mentioned that a male suspect was identified shortly after the shooting, but authorities lost track of him during a highway chase. The suspect was driving a white Honda Civic with tinted windows.

This incident marks the third significant shooting in the arts district within the past year. On May 6, 2023, at least ten people were shot in two separate incidents, with one person being shot by an officer. About two weeks later, another mass shooting in the vicinity resulted in three fatalities and injuries to at least three more individuals.
