A resurgence of hostilities broke out on Sunday along the Israel-Lebanon border, involving the Israeli army and Hezbollah. Hezbollah issued statements claiming responsibility for assaults on the Israeli Birkat Risha and Hanita posts, reportedly causing casualties.
The National News Agency reported the launch of two rockets from southern Lebanon towards the Saasaa area in northern Israel. In response, Israel conducted airstrikes on the outskirts of several southern Lebanese towns, including Blida, al-Taybeh, Tayr Harfa, Khiam, Naqoura, Kfarkila, and Kfarshouba.
This recent escalation follows the onset of the Israel-Hamas war that began on October 8. The border has since experienced deadly exchanges of fire, predominantly between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which has declared its actions in support of Hamas.
Casualties since the commencement of these clashes include over 120 individuals from the Lebanese side, predominantly Hezbollah fighters, but also a Lebanese soldier and 17 civilians, among whom were three journalists. On the Israeli side, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of four civilians and seven soldiers, as reported by authorities.
