Netanyahu says Israel respects Lebanon and its army

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed on Sunday that his government is pursuing a strict and unwavering approach toward Lebanon amid rising tensions.

During his weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu addressed the recent spike in hostilities along the northern border, stating that while Israel maintains a level of respect for Lebanon and its military, it also expects accountability in return. He emphasized that such respect brings with it expectations — namely, that Lebanon prevents any hostile actions originating from its territory.

Referring to recent rocket fire toward Israeli territory, Netanyahu underlined that Lebanon bears full responsibility for any attacks launched from within its borders. He insisted that it is up to Lebanese authorities to prevent such aggression, signaling that Israel views Beirut not just as a neighbor but as a state with obligations it must uphold.
