Ethan Hunt returns in the latest installment of Mission: Impossible, now officially titled Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning. A thrilling new trailer has been released, promising jaw-dropping action as Tom Cruise reprises his role as the iconic super spy.
On Monday, November 11, the first trailer for the eighth movie in the franchise was unveiled, showcasing Ethan Hunt on a high-stakes mission to save the world once again. The preview reveals intense action sequences, with Hunt performing death-defying stunts, from hanging off a biplane to diving underwater, running, and engaging in combat.
The trailer also brings a touch of nostalgia, featuring footage from the original Mission: Impossible movie directed by Brian De Palma, while confirming the return of Angela Bassett as CIA Director Erika Sloane, who was last seen in Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
Tom Cruise shared the film’s intense poster on social media, adding the caption, “Every choice has led to this.” Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously helmed Rogue Nation, Fallout, and Dead Reckoning, the film promises to push action and suspense to new heights.
The star-studded cast includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, and Frederick Schmidt.
Originally set to release as Dead Reckoning Part Two following the 2023 film Dead Reckoning Part One, the film faced delays due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes. Its title was later updated, though a new release date was initially unconfirmed.
Produced by Paramount Pictures and Skydance, with Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie also serving as producers, Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning is now set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
