The Ministry of Health in Gaza, overseen by Hamas, reported on Friday that a significant number of medical staff, patients, and displaced individuals are trapped inside the Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza. According to their statement, those confined within the maternity ward were subjected to interrogations under severe and cruel conditions by Israeli forces.
The complex has been without electricity due to generator failures, posing a critical risk to patients in need of oxygen. The ministry detailed that within the older section of the hospital, five medical staff and 120 patients are stranded without access to food or water, and Israeli forces have blocked attempts to transfer critically ill patients to other medical facilities.
On Saturday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed ongoing operations in Khan Younis, where the Nasser hospital is situated. They reported the detention of around 100 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities and the elimination of terrorists in the vicinity of the hospital. The IDF stated that its special forces had conducted a raid on the hospital complex on Thursday, based on intelligence suggesting that Hamas terrorists were using injured civilians within the Nasser hospital as cover.
Additionally, the IDF mentioned receiving credible intelligence, including from released hostages, indicating that the bodies of deceased hostages might be located inside the hospital. However, the IDF has not made any evidence supporting this claim publicly available.
Hamas, in response, asserted that it had no operations within the hospital.
