Lebanese Army reportedly arrests Hamas members over alleged Jordan plot

Lebanese Army intelligence detained several Hamas members across multiple Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon — including Ain el-Helweh, Tyre, and Nahr al-Bared — in connection to a reported plot uncovered by Jordanian authorities. Military sources confirmed the arrests to Al-Hadath, a channel affiliated with Al-Arabiya.

The Lebanese Army emphasized that it would not permit any operations intended to destabilize Jordan or other Arab nations, nor would it tolerate activities that compromise the security of southern Lebanon. According to sources, a senior Hamas figure has formally requested a meeting with the army’s Intelligence Directorate.

Jordan’s intelligence agency announced on Tuesday the arrest of 16 individuals accused of plotting acts that threaten national security and public stability. The suspects reportedly attempted to manufacture rockets locally and with imported materials, possessed explosives and firearms, and concealed a launch-ready rocket.

They were also planning to build drones, according to Jordanian authorities, and had trained operatives both domestically and abroad. Jordan later disclosed that some of the individuals involved had received military training in Lebanon.

The Jordanian government noted that the suspects were affiliated with politically motivated, unauthorized groups — specifically referencing the Muslim Brotherhood, which was formally dissolved in the country in 2020.
